June Challenge: Hydration for Health

June Challenge: Hydration for Health

As we head into June and officially kick off summer, I've been reflecting on a recent trip to Portland with my kids to visit my stepson. Oregon is truly breathtaking. We spent time exploring waterfalls, walking along the coast, and taking in the incredible beauty that water creates throughout the landscape.

It was the perfect reminder of how essential water is—not only to our world, but to our bodies.

This month, I'm continuing my journey through Dr. Jen Ashton's book and her month-long hydration challenge. If you've been following along, you know I've been tackling one chapter and one wellness challenge at a time. June's focus is simple: drink more water.

I must admit.

For someone who spent years as a runner and registered dietitian by degree, drinking enough water has never come naturally to me. I simply don't love the taste of plain water. I've tried lemon and other tricks.

What helps me most are healthy hydration products that encourage me to drink more fluids throughout the day. I've long enjoyed Poppi, Arbonne Fizz, and their new Cucumber Watermelon Sport drink is delicious. While neither replaces water itself, they help me stay on track and make hydration more enjoyable.

So why should we care so much about drinking water?

Water Helps Support Energy and Appetite Control

Even mild dehydration can leave us feeling sluggish and fatigued. Staying hydrated also helps us recognize true hunger signals and can support feelings of fullness throughout the day.

Water Supports Healthy, Glowing Skin

One of the simplest anti-aging habits is proper hydration. Research has shown that increasing water intake can improve skin hydration, helping skin appear smoother, plumper, and healthier. If you're investing in quality skincare products, hydration is one of the best ways to maximize those results.

Water Helps Keep Your Brain Performing at Its Best

Did you know the brain is made up of approximately 73% water?

Even mild dehydration can impact concentration, memory, mood, and mental clarity. Before reaching for medication when a headache strikes, consider whether you may simply need more water.

Water Supports Heart Health

When we're dehydrated, blood volume decreases, forcing the heart to work harder to circulate blood throughout the body. Consistent hydration helps support normal cardiovascular function and overall wellness.

Water Helps Prevent Common Health Issues

Proper hydration can help:

  • Support urinary tract health

  • Reduce constipation

  • Improve exercise performance

  • Promote healthy digestion

  • Support healthy saliva production and fresher breath

My June Challenge

This month, I'm focusing on one simple goal: drink more water.

I'll continue enjoying one Arbonne Fizz each day and the new Cucumber Watermelon Hydrate drink as part of my morning routine alongside my electrolytes. But my primary focus will be plain water throughout the day.

My goal of living to 100 isn't built on complicated health hacks. It's built on simple habits practiced consistently. Drinking enough water may be one of the easiest, most affordable wellness strategies available to all of us.

So, what's your hydration goal this month?

Maybe it's carrying a water bottle everywhere you go. Maybe it's drinking a glass of water before every meal. Or maybe it's simply paying attention to how much water you're consuming each day.

I'd love to hear your plan.

And if you'd like to try the new Cucumber Watermelon Hydrate drink, reach out to me and I'd be happy to send you a sample.

One final tip: my kids gave me a new water bottle for Christmas, and it has honestly been a game changer in helping me stay hydrated. Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest difference.

Here's to a healthy, hydrated summer!
